For locals and tourists alike, the Batu Caves are a fantastic, mesmerizing location that attracts hundreds of people every single day. These caves are more than just a glittering limestone network that is over 400 million years old.
There are also famous Hindu shrines, featuring the world’s tallest statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity, 272 concrete steps that are worth the climb, the Batu Malai Sri Murugan Temple, the Thaipusam Festival, and a huge population of friendly monkeys.
Whether you go for the religious and cultural venture or merely for the monkey business, the Batu Caves is a favorite amongst Malaysians and the international tourists. You are bound to love it, even if the stairs make you want to cry.
2. Petronas Towers and KLCC Park
6 Breathtaking Attractions to Enjoy in Kuala LumpurThe famous landmark of Kuala Lumpur. Also known as the Menara Berkembar Petronas, these twin towers were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 and continue to be the tallest duo. At night, these glorious towers are light, dominating the skyline.
There are some notable features in and around the Petronas Towers, including Suria KLCC, an upmarket retail center where you can find food, clothing, an art gallery, an aquarium, and a science center. You should try to get to the sky bridge, which connects the 41st and 42nd floors for amazing views of the city.
Outside is the lovely KLCC Park. The fountains put on a light show in the evening, and there are a number of jogging paths, a wading pool, and exciting children’s playground.
3. KL Tower and KL Eco-Forest Park
6 Breathtaking Attractions to Enjoy in Kuala Lumpur
The Menara Kuala Lumpur, also known as KL Tower, is the seventh-tallest freestanding communication tower in the world, features a revolving restaurant and offers visitors a panoramic view of the city without moving a muscle, and is the World Basejump Centre.
There is an annual race held annually that has participants race to the top, so if you are interested in that, you should check it out. At the base of the KL Tower is the renowned KL Eco-Forest Park, a slice of rainforest perfection in the middle of a bustling city. Admission is free, making it a wonderful place to bring kids, see undisturbed wildlife, or do a canopy walk.
4. Merdeka Square
6 Breathtaking Attractions to Enjoy in Kuala LumpurOtherwise known as Independence Square, this pivotal section of the city is a testament to the various religions and cultures co-existing in the city. There are many notable features of Merdeka Square, including the 95-meter (311 feet) flagpole, the Plaza Dataran Merdeka, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building that houses the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Culture of Malaysia, the National History Museum, St. Mary’s Anglican Cathedral, and a portion of the original Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. 5. Perdana Botanical Garden and Park
6 Breathtaking Attractions to Enjoy in Kuala Lumpur
This is Kuala Lumpur’s first large recreational park and was established in 1888. There is a lot going on here that makes it a perfect reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. Be sure to check out the National Monument, Hibiscus Garden, Orchid Garden, KL Bird Park (one of the largest and most diverse aviaries in the entire world), and the KL Butterfly Park. Perdana Park is also an amazing place to have a picnic and escape the heat and humidity, thanks to the shade trees.
6. Bukit Bintang
6 Breathtaking Attractions to Enjoy in Kuala LumpurThe place for those who want to shop until they drop. Bukit Bintang is often described as the New York city of Kuala Lumpur and is the home of the “Bukit Bintang Walk,” where entertainment and fashion are the highlights. You can find 5-star everything in Bukit Bintang, from nightclubs (the few that actually exist in Kuala Lumpur), restaurants, and hotels.
Also in Bukit Bintang is Jalan Alor, a street that is lined with authentic Chinese seafood restaurants and hawker stalls that will transport you to another world. Foodies and fashionistas will find their hearts full and pursue just a little bit lighter here, but the splurge is definitely worth it.
With the size and variety you find in Kuala Lumpur, it is no wonder this place is considered the capital. Culture, art, and economy collide to fabricate a cityscape that is as expansive as the people of Malaysia.
You are sure to find something that will leave you feeling inspired or awed but definitely, stop by these five recommendation locations while you are in the area. You do not want to regret missing them.

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore

There are many reasons why I absolutely adored Singapore. This megacity was laced with a vibrancy handcrafted by the inhabitants and the organic beauty of the land. At night, Singapore was a scintillating environment in more ways than one. For those who love looking at a city aglow in more than just moonlight, Singapore is a phenomenal place for night illumination and scenery. My top five favorite places to see lights at night:

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore

1. Singapore Flyer

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore
This gigantic Ferris wheel is a wonderful place to bring the kids or your traveling companion. Though it is a bit pricey to enter and ride, it is nonetheless a feast for the eyes. The wheel itself lights up in a vivid blue.
As it turns, you get to see several other key points around the city. The highest point reaches the height of some of the tallest buildings in Singapore, giving you a panoramic view of the famous attractions, the glistening ocean, and the heartlands.

2. Gardens By The Bay

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore

Along the Marina, this state-of-the-art green space attracts a surge of visitors – mainly of the tourist variety – to the garden for several reasons. First, the walk there, if you start from the station called Raffle’s Place, takes you along the Bay, around the Promontory, and up through some of the most enthralling sections of nightlife, the city has to offer.

Second, even just the bridge you take to cross into Gardens By The Bay grants amazing views. Third, this place comes alive. The “supertrees” which are growing all kinds of air-purifying plants light up. There is a mesmerizing light show, following by a pleasant walk through illuminated gardens and ponds. In the backdrop, a million city lights twinkle.

3. Boat Quay and Clarke Quay

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore

As you walk the streets of these two famous party spots, you may not get to see some of the more famous “night sights,” but you will be treated to illuminated trees, lanterns, candlelit tables, light shows on the bay, rainbow-accented buildings, and much, much more.
Boat Quay and Clarke Quay make for the perfect place for a nightly meander because you can do the entire circuit to see skyscrapers, residential areas, bars, restaurants, live entertainment, and more in the most beautiful way imaginable.

4. Mount Faber

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore

If you are one of those people who prefers to see night from a more natural angle, Mount Faber Park is a famous hiking spot, featuring the Henderson Waves, that is open throughout the night. Be smart and bring a friend, something to drink, and a blanket to wrap up in so you can watch the sun go down and lights flick on as night descends.

5. The Marina Bay Sands Hotel

5 Spots for Night Illumination in Singapore

Arguably one of the most eye-catching and extravagant locations in all of Singapore, this UFO-looking structure is actually some home to some of the best rooftop bars and night views as well. You will know it when you see it, and you will want to test out the Infinity pool for yourself if you can afford it.
Otherwise, paying the cover charge and riding the long elevator up to the top floor to wine and dine with Singapore’s affluent population is worth it. Besides, that rooftop view will make you swoon.
In short, be sure to bring a camera when you travel Singapore at night. You are going to want to capture these jaw-dropping night illuminations on film so you can remember these sights in all of their glory. Alone or with friends, a night in Singapore twinkles like the Milky Way; and you are going to love every single moment. Happy travels!

12 Healthy Pantry Staples to Stock Your Kitchen

When it comes to eating healthy, we often think of our refrigerator as the place to store our healthy food items. In order to make healthy eating even easier, though, we should also remember to stock up our pantries with healthy essentials that will make throwing a healthy meal together even in the busiest moments a breeze.

Next time you go to the supermarket, make sure you grab these healthy pantry staples, so you will always have them on hand to complete your meals.

1. Canned tuna

It is not only cheap and convenient, it is also healthy. Rich in protein plus omega-3 fatty acids, tuna packed in water makes for a great addition to salads and wraps. It is also delicious with sticks of celery.

2. Extra virgin olive oil

Olive oil is full of monounsaturated fat (the good kind of fat) as well as antioxidants. You can use it to cook with, drizzle it over vegetables, or make your own healthy salad dressing.

3. Vinegar

Vinegar has the power to give vegetables a whole new flavor when roasting them. It is also handy to mix with your olive oil for a fresh, healthy salad dressing.

4. Canned tomatoes

Filled with lycopene, an antioxidant that fights off cancer, canned tomatoes really come in handy when you need a soup base. Choose cans that do not have any added salt or are low in sodium.

5. Whole wheat pasta

Make your carbs work for you. Whole wheat types of pasta from spaghetti to bowties have more fiber to fill you up longer. But read the labels, though. Some types are not as healthy as they seem.

6. Brown rice

Another great card to have on hand is brown rice. It retains essential nutrients unlike white rice because it is not processed. This is a great alternative for those that are gluten-free too since it does not contain wheat.

7. Oatmeal

This healthy breakfast item is great for keeping you full because it is loaded with fiber. It’s easy to have a fast, nutritious breakfast with this cholesterol-managing food.

8. Quinoa

Most people think of quinoa as a grain. And while it certainly looks like one, it is a protein-rich plant. Great for meatless meals and diet-friendly salads.

9. Lentils

Low in fat and full of fiber and protein, lentils go great in soups and stews. They can also be tossed onto salads in a pinch for a powerful punch of nutrients that tastes great.

10. Beans

While dried beans are best, if convenience is a factor, buy canned beans with no salt added. Like lentils, they can be used in soups, stews, and salads. They can also replace meat in any meal.

11. Peanut butter

Choose natural peanut butter or even another nut butter. They are full of protein and monounsaturated fats. There should only be nuts and salt listed in the ingredients for it to be a healthy choice.

12. Nuts

Nuts make for a great snack. Load up on cashews, peanuts, almonds and other nuts and store them in your airtight containers at home. Keep walnuts or almonds on hand for those munchable moments so you make a good choice when snacking.

Outfitting your pantry with these healthy staples is a must when it comes to healthy eating. Buy in bulk to save money and always have nutrient-dense foods at home. What healthy pantry staples do you have in your kitchen? Tell us!

7 Tricks to Make Real Chinese Food at Home

Before I lived in China, I always assumed the Chinese food I ate in restaurants in America was authentic. In case you are wondering, it is not the same. While there are a few dishes on the menus of Chinese restaurants in America that you will also find in China, the differences are astronomical.

It is not to say that the things we have grown to love in Chinese restaurants here in America are not good. But the things we are missing out on that are traditional Chinese dishes are also incredible.

Fortunately, you can cut the delivery and takeout and save yourself money on tickets to China by making real Chinese food at home. Follow these tips to make your Chinese dishes taste like the real deal.

1. Get a wok

The wok is a common cooking utensil in China that aids in cooking techniques, including pan frying, stir frying, deep frying, steaming, poaching, braising, boiling, searing, making soup, stewing, and much more. If you do not have one, get one. It makes all the difference in the way your stir-fry tastes.

2. Cook over intensely high heat

The oil should be about to jump out of that wok. It is preferable if you have a gas range, but if not, you can still make it happen with an electric one.

3. Stock up on the right sauces

You can make just about any Chinese dish by keeping the right ingredients on hand. Soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and Chinese cooking wine are all must-have items for Chinese cookery.

4. Use freshly grated ginger

If something tastes like it is missing from your stir-fry, it probably is. Always keep fresh ginger root on hand and grate it fresh into your dish. It adds that missing dimension of flavor, plus ginger has a royal ton of health benefits, so adding more of it into your food is never a bad thing.

5. Do not be shy with the chili pepper

Chinese dishes in America can be a bit bland. Over in China, they will set your mouth on fire. Sprinkle just a little bit of chili pepper into your stir-fry the next time and you will never go back to the old way, I promise.

6. Use leftovers for fried rice

Fried rice is made with leftover rice, often for breakfast the next day. While Americans tend to think of rice as something to eat for lunch or dinner, this common meal made of leftovers utilizes the remaining rice and trinkets from dinner the night before.

Also, if you are wondering where that brown color comes from, it is a combination of soy sauce and oyster sauce. Do not add salt or you will be sorry. The sauces along with chunks of meat you will add will make it salty enough.

7. Go for hot pot

You almost never see this in your corner Chinese restaurant. Hot pot is very common in China and really easy to make at home. An electric skillet filled with water works perfectly for recreating this Chinese favorite.

Simply stock your table with raw slices of potatoes, tofu chunks, crab sticks, shaved beef, mushrooms, cabbage, and anything else you’d like. Toss it in the boiling water of your electric skillet and serve it with a sauce of watered-down peanut butter. Nothing is more authentic than this.

You do not have to acquire special cooking tricks to make Chinese dishes at home. These seven tricks will go along the way. Have you ever made Chinese food at home? What is your favorite Chinese dish?
